>Well this week certainly had its dramas! It started off with me being cheeky and thinking that I had everything correctly coded only to realise I didn’t and that my little testing account was wiped out. It was really dumb and stupid of me to implement, what I thought was, a minor change, without testing. [...]
The USDCAD broke through support around ~0.9900 during the week and it looked as though it would have turned into a great trade, however, as we all know with the Loonie anything can happen! While it did break through quite nicely and even formed a swing high at the previous support zone it’s movement in [...]
>This first week of 2012 only sparked one trade, although there was another looming! This means my strike rate for 2012 is 100% (woohoo)! =)
The risk-to-reward ratio was a tad over 1.5 – the initial stop was placed at the previous swing high being 70 pips away and the profit made was a tad over [...]
>This week saw a very active week on the automated forex system. By the end of the week the system saw further gains propelling the risk capital to a gain of 15.4%.
While there were a couple of good trades (mostly reversals!) there were some that were still problematic from a few bugs in the Expert [...]
>As forex brokers one of our chief aims is to minimise costs. One way we do this is by looking for forex brokers that offer cheaper spreads and lower costs on our trades.
MyFXBook have provided an excellent spread analysis resource allowing forex traders to monitor forex brokers’ spreads and give an accurate, unbiased view of [...]
The system didn’t perform as well this week ending the month of January with a loss. Unfortunately there was one currency that absorbed the profits and this was the EURGBP. Analysing the trades after the fact means further “tweaking” of the system is needed.
A video of all the trades and the imported system into MyFXBook [...]
>I would love to have reported that this week saw another good performance from the system ending with a return of 30% on risk capital (dividing it by 4 would give us the actual return on capital being 7.5%). HOWEVER, some yet undiscovered bug saw to eat through all the hard-earned paper profits made on [...]
This week saw some pretty long extended moves in the forex market. The USDJPY took the majority of the stage as it weakened against the US dollar, however, another which saw me enter during the week was the movement on the USDCHF as it had a clearly defined entry point.
Overall the trade netted 130 pips [...]
This week we had two profitable trades and a very close third possible trade with the USDJPY (it just didn’t give us the third bounce needed). During this week I also came across the Strategy Tester feature found in MetaTrader and went about testing a few of the currencies of the HB3 system. All of [...]
Well true to MetaTrader 4′s Strategy Tester this method wasn’t going to be moving anywhere fast and sure enough this week proved it! Every trade ended up in the red even though there were two EURUSD trades which had me scratching my noggin’ think “whaaat??”.
So my thoughts during the week were, “Well this just ain’t [...]
